Wild Roses is a somewhat abstracted field of red flowers.  It was painted on a semi-absorbent panel made of paper-epoxy composite.  This material is durable, sturdy, and chemical resistant, but the surface “feels” and paints like good paper.

Splattered speckles of ink and fluid acrylic were used to build up a soft complex sky with gradations of color.  Wash effects in ink and fluid acrylic blocked out the color areas of the landscape.  More opaque and full bodied acrylics were used to paint in forms and some details.  A final layer of glossy gel impasto was used to create raised textures and intense color details in the flowers.
