“Reinvented Forests” describes a set of mixed media landscape paintings focused on trees and forest scenes. Instead of using traditional painting techniques and adding media, these paintings use extruded, poured and raked paint and painting media. The mixed media elements stand in for the brushstrokes and “marks” of a more traditional approach to painting. Some of the media used have interesting lensing and other optical properties, making the paintings interact subtly with the viewer and environment.
